SINGAPORE: Eight men were arrested early Sunday morning while attempting to smuggle drugs from Singapore to Australia. Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) officers discovered about 2 kilogrammes of Heroin No.4 in the shoes of three South Korean men at Changi Airport Terminal 3.
Five Nepalese men, aged between 22 and 41, were also arrested in connection with the case.
The three South Korean drug couriers, aged between 40 and 52, had flown into Singapore on Saturday and had checked into a hotel in Bugis before meeting a Nepalese drug coordinator. The drug bust was a joint operation between CNB and the Police Intelligence Department.
All eight men are unemployed and will be charged with exporting a controlled drug. If convicted, all may face the death penalty.
